Hello, I’m Lisa Roberts and I am currently on a two week shadowing opportunity at Spring. I work for the Department for Business Innovation and Skill (BIS) and I’m the relationship manager for New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership.
During my time here I will be following Erika Clegg, Co-founder of Spring, experiencing from the shadow what life is like for her running a dynamic communications business.
Erika and I met through the New Anglia LEP, where she is one of the private sector Board members. I have a small amount of experience of working directly in the private sector but felt I needed to learn more about life in private sector, try to understand the challenges business face from the cold front and help ensure I embed reality in what I do in my day job.
I plan to shadow a number of the private sector Board members to get a glimpse into a range of sectors and different sized businesses. I am also keen to use the opportunity to get to know the people who dedicate their time voluntarily to ensuring growth in Norfolk and Suffolk happens.
All the Springers (the people at Spring) are very warm, welcoming, hardworking people and instantly made me feel part of the team. I am really enjoying working on the variety of projects that Spring are currently working on, not only am I learning about life in the private sector I am learning new skills.
I timed it really well as I have been able to experience the excitement from the Springers as they launched their new positioning campaign this week – Agency for Change – which for what I have seen so far is definitely embedded in Spring and the Springers.
